How DiaryOftheDead™ works

From the moment of loss, to every year after.

A diary is a free memorial page for someone who has died. It gathers everyone’s candles, words, voice notes, photos and the funeral itself in one place you can share on WhatsApp.

The journey

One page, from the first day to every anniversary

DiaryOftheDead™ is with the family through the hardest weeks, and keeps their memory alive long after.

When someone dies

In the first days

  • Create their diary in minutes

Add a few gentle details. We turn your words into a beautiful page.

One link tells everyone the news, the dates and where to send condolences.

  • Find trusted funeral services

Compare vetted vendors and prices, with no middleman, if you need help.

At the funeral

On the day

  • Guests scan a QR code

Stands at the church and reception. Guests leave a word in seconds, no app needed.

  • Stream the service live

Family abroad watch, light candles and send messages in real time.

  • Voice notes become text

Grandma can speak her condolence. We write it down, and translate it if needed.

Keeping their memory

Every year after

  • Reminders that matter

Birthdays and remembrance days, for everyone who follows the diary.

  • Keep adding memories

Photos, videos, old letters. The diary grows with the family.

  • Candles that never go out

Anyone, anywhere, can light a candle on any day.

For families

Create a diary in four steps

  1. 1

    Create a diary

Talk it through or fill in the details — we build a beautiful page either way.

  2. 2

    Share the link and QR

Send it on WhatsApp, print the QR for the funeral, add it to the programme.

  3. 3

    Everyone pays respects

Candles, words, voice notes, photos and videos, even live streams of the service.

  4. 4

    Remember every year

We remind family and friends on birthdays and remembrance days.

Questions

Things families ask us

Can’t find your answer? Talk to us on WhatsApp.

Is it really free?

Yes. Creating a diary, sharing it and receiving condolences is free forever. Premium themes and event services are optional.

Who can see a diary?

You choose. A diary can be public and appear in Discover, unlisted so only people with the link can open it, or private to the family.

Do guests need the app or an account?

No. Guests open the link in any browser, light candles and leave condolences without signing up.

Can family abroad join the funeral?

Yes. The service can be streamed live on the diary, with candles and messages from wherever they are.

Can more than one person manage the diary?

Yes. The family can add co-admins so siblings and relatives can all add photos, approve condolences and plan events.
